Growly App
This case study project focused on researching, designing and developing a mobile app to help users through their indoor plant growing and care journey. The app empowers users through plant identification, education, care and health tracking features.
Through this case study I used research to develop user personas and journeys that i could draw insights from to drive design decisions. These insights assisted in developing user flows, information architecture, low and high fidelity prototypes that could be tested and reiterated.

Background: This case study involved researching, designing, and developing a mobile app to support users in their indoor plant growing and care journey. The app empowers users with features for plant identification, education, care, and health tracking.
Research Goals: To optimize the Growly app's impact, I explored user behaviors related to purchasing and caring for plants. This involved mapping user journeys and developing personas to gain deep insights. Leveraging these insights, we informed and drove subsequent design decisions, ensuring that the app effectively addressed user needs and enhanced their plant care experience.
Personas were developed through a combination of personal experience and informal interviews across diverse demographics. They assisted in synthesizing user needs and desires that Growly aimed to address.
Mapping the initial user journey involved breaking down the user's early interactions and task completions, as well as identifying emotions felt by the user throughout each phase. This examination identified pain points but also gave valuable insights into how to enhance the user experience.
These insights were pivotal for shaping and refining the app's features as the design process progressed, ensuring that they aligned closely with user needs and expectations.
Ideation
I began by creating user flow concepts to map out the journey users would take, ensuring a seamless and intuitive experience. These flows helped identify critical touchpoints and user actions, forming a solid foundation for the design process. I then sketched key screens as wireframes to focus on layout and structure, allowing for quick iterations on functionality and flow.
Using these wireframes, I planned interactions through low-fidelity prototypes in Figma to test and validate the user flows early on. This approach enabled me to gather feedback from users and stakeholders without heavy investment in details. After refining these prototypes, I developed high-fidelity concepts in Figma, adding detailed design elements and visual aesthetics. These high-fidelity prototypes assisted user testing, ensuring the final design was both functional and visually appealing.
Mapping the basic user flow helped identify key user interactions, revealing the essential screens to develop.
